Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Xin Shunkang attended the funeral of Zimbabwean National Heroine, Amai Takawira at the National Heroes' Acre on 18th January, 2010. Present at the funeral were over 3000 people, including President R. Mugabe, Prime Minister M. Tsvangirai, Deputy Prime Minister A. Mutambara, cabinet members, parliamentarians and diplomats in Zimbabwe.

Amai Takawira is the widow of the late veteran nationalist of Zimabwe and Zanu-PF founding vice president Cde Leopold Takawira. Amai Takawira passed away on 13th January, 2010, and was conferred with national heroine status by President Mugabe.
